Baptism is the beginning of our faith and our gateway into the Church. It is the first of threee Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and Eucharist being the other two). Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: "Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word". A priest or deacon is the Minister of Baptism.
Parents of a child who is to be baptized must be registered in a parish. To have your child baptized at our parish, you must either be a registered member of our parish or have a letter from your parish giving you permission to do the baptism here at our parish.

According to Cannon Law, there can only be one or two Godparents. If there are two Godparents, the Church asks that they be one male and one female.

At times parents have a close friend, who is not Catholic, whom they would like to have a role in their child's baptism. This is possible as long as you have one Catholic Godparent. The person, who is non-Catholic, can be a Christian Witness. A Christian Witness is considered a baptized Christian who belongs to a non-Catholic church community. The Christian Witness must provide documentation that they are a member of a church community.
